Feet in the Sand: Newport Beach 2

Same time and place as the last shot. Just this one is where the water is actually rushing my feet. Late October 2007. Maybe I'll get back there a different time of season sometime.

Feet in the Sand: Newport Beach

This was taken in late October 2007, in Newport Beach, California. I spent pretty much all of October in Orange County working as a PA on a tiny little indie movie. It was a lot of fun. And I stayed with some family there whom I hadn't seen much of for a while before then. This was I believe about a week before I headed home, just after filming wrapped on the movie. I spent about a week to actually spend time with the family, and one day did a little drive of about half of the Orange County coastline.

Feet in the Sand: Sonoma Coast

This was taken last May (2007) on a little solo excursion to the coast, I believe I was just to the north of Bodega Bay. I've been using it now as my user image here, just because, I like it. :) And this trip to the coast was a step in my on going attempt to get out, and find myself, so to speak, I guess. LOL I know, that made loads of sense, didn't it?

Campus Tours

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
I never did go on one of those campus tours, but then I never considered anywhere else, as anywhere else would have been too far to commute from home. And while it was never the ideal college experience, nor ever on my list of college I would have wanted to go, had I not had to consider anything other than where I wanted to go to school, it was still a nice little place, and I will honestly miss it. Taken the last week of school, May 2005.

Deer

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Monday evening I came home to find there had been deer in our back yard all day. I took this through the kitchen window, and standing back a ways from the window, so as not to scare them. They hung around until after dark. It was pretty cool. I hope they got back to where ever home is safely.

Ducks

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Saw these ducks napping outside some of the dorms at my school. Quite a ways from the 'ponds' where they normally hang out. I just thought they were really funny just sitting an napping next to the pathway (the one is actually on the pathway). Taken just last weekend, April 2005.

Mourning

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
So, just the other day, Sunday exactly, I went by my old high school with the intent of seeing if there was a place I could do a little shooting with my video camera. I was trying to find a way to do this assignment for my class. And then I walked into the quad. Empty, school quads, especially high schools always feel a little odd. Like without the bustle of people, it feels somehow off. And more so when it's your old school, where so many memories lie. And where those memories can freely haunt you. Well, then I saw the 'graffiti' all over the quad. Clearly school santioned graffiti, for I'm guessing a couple of students who died. At that point the full effect of walking through something that was just not right, and feeling a little mournful fully hit. It's just sad, but the words left by those left behind carried such sadness and love, it was moving. I didn't shoot any video footage there, but I did feel the need to take a few stills. This was one of them. In memory of people I never knew, but who walked the same grounds I once did. On the wall was scrawled a great many mournful words, one of which was "Only the good die young".
