Mourning

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
So, just the other day, Sunday exactly, I went by my old high school with the intent of seeing if there was a place I could do a little shooting with my video camera. I was trying to find a way to do this assignment for my class. And then I walked into the quad. Empty, school quads, especially high schools always feel a little odd. Like without the bustle of people, it feels somehow off. And more so when it's your old school, where so many memories lie. And where those memories can freely haunt you. Well, then I saw the 'graffiti' all over the quad. Clearly school santioned graffiti, for I'm guessing a couple of students who died. At that point the full effect of walking through something that was just not right, and feeling a little mournful fully hit. It's just sad, but the words left by those left behind carried such sadness and love, it was moving. I didn't shoot any video footage there, but I did feel the need to take a few stills. This was one of them. In memory of people I never knew, but who walked the same grounds I once did. On the wall was scrawled a great many mournful words, one of which was "Only the good die young".
