Campus Tours

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
I never did go on one of those campus tours, but then I never considered anywhere else, as anywhere else would have been too far to commute from home. And while it was never the ideal college experience, nor ever on my list of college I would have wanted to go, had I not had to consider anything other than where I wanted to go to school, it was still a nice little place, and I will honestly miss it. Taken the last week of school, May 2005.

Deer

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Monday evening I came home to find there had been deer in our back yard all day. I took this through the kitchen window, and standing back a ways from the window, so as not to scare them. They hung around until after dark. It was pretty cool. I hope they got back to where ever home is safely.

Ducks

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Saw these ducks napping outside some of the dorms at my school. Quite a ways from the 'ponds' where they normally hang out. I just thought they were really funny just sitting an napping next to the pathway (the one is actually on the pathway). Taken just last weekend, April 2005.

Mourning

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
So, just the other day, Sunday exactly, I went by my old high school with the intent of seeing if there was a place I could do a little shooting with my video camera. I was trying to find a way to do this assignment for my class. And then I walked into the quad. Empty, school quads, especially high schools always feel a little odd. Like without the bustle of people, it feels somehow off. And more so when it's your old school, where so many memories lie. And where those memories can freely haunt you. Well, then I saw the 'graffiti' all over the quad. Clearly school santioned graffiti, for I'm guessing a couple of students who died. At that point the full effect of walking through something that was just not right, and feeling a little mournful fully hit. It's just sad, but the words left by those left behind carried such sadness and love, it was moving. I didn't shoot any video footage there, but I did feel the need to take a few stills. This was one of them. In memory of people I never knew, but who walked the same grounds I once did. On the wall was scrawled a great many mournful words, one of which was "Only the good die young".

The Great Tower of Chairs

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Was walking through campus with my group and camera and spotted this great tower of chairs. Just found it amusing, so I had to take a picture. Taken just this last month, March 2005. :)

Joe's Rock

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
I was always amused by this rock. It was located just outside the math building at my Junior College, and read, incase it's not readable on the photo by everyone, "Joe's Rock Unauthorized Personal Only". *LOL* The photo was taken in May of 2000.

Chair Lights

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
In my beginning photography class my teacher had assigned us to take a roll of a chair. And shoot the chair from all kinds of different angles. Well, I decided to get weird and creative and wrap my chair in x-mas lights. I then turned off all the other lights and took the pictures. Made it clear it was all the chair, but it also resulted in some very interesting photos. This was one of mine and my teacher's favorites. Taken in November of 1999. (Note: On the TV is Tobey Maguire in Pleasantville. It wound up being an odd, part of the image that I didn't really plan on. *L*)

My Reflection

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This was taken in October of 2001 I believe, and this I think was the same time as the previous image of the Golden Gate Bridge. I took this one in the tinted windows of the Junior College. Along a path that I walked MANY, MANY times during my five years there. This was my final year that the Junior College, and I was not actually taking a photography class at this time, I simply enjoyed carring my camera around and snapping things as they struck my fancy. :)

Bee

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Early on in my first year of photography, Oct 96 again. Taken with my teacher's camera with a serious macro lens. This was a cool shot, really liked how close in I got to the bee, without having to stand too close, since bees have always make me nervous. *L*

Seagull

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This was October 1996 again. Possibly the same roll of film even as the Crow. Taken in my old high school quad. Managed to catch the bird taking off. I like the blur of the wings. I think it's a pretty cool shot.

Crow

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
I still love this shot, the crow is just cool. Taken in October of 1996, during my senior year of high school. There were a lot of crows that hung out in our quad after break and lunch. Thanks to my photography class that year, I had an excuse to be out wandering the halls and quad of the school during class time with my camera. :)

Golden Gate

Hosted by Photobucket.com
This was taken a few years ago, it was evening, the sun was starting to drop a bit low on the horizon and the sky was starting to glow reddish-orange. The Golden Gate Bridge, an image that when I would travel far from home, when I would see it again on the arrival home, I knew I was home. It's a bridge I've been across I don't know how many times in my life, and it's is always beautiful each and every time.

This is a picture of one of the art classrooms at the junior college I used to attend. Picture was probably taken in 2001. It's the date on the back of the print *LOL*.

College Skate Girl

Hosted by Photobucket.com
Was headed out to my car last semester and just took a shot, I liked the look of the girl staking toward me, and had my camera in hand, so I snapped.

Portland Library

This was taken on the same trip to Portland, only been there once. Considering moving there though, soon. This is the very cool outside of the Portland Public Library building. Inside was pretty cool too.
